About Us

Our Vision

Seacoast Classical Education Foundation endeavors to open the doors of multiple K-12 public charter schools in the greater seacoast area by 2034. We are creating a classical education pathway that fosters intellectual growth, moral character and civic responsibility while recognizing and reinforcing the role of the parent as the primary decision maker and moral authority in the life of the child.

We believe a classical education cultivates wisdom, virtue, and a deep understanding of history, literature, and philosophy. A rigorous curriculum rooted in timeless principles fosters critical thinking, moral character, and a love of learning.

What is classical education?

Classical education is far from a new concept—it is a time-tested approach that has shaped some of history’s greatest minds for centuries.
Rooted in the traditions of ancient Greece and Rome, this method of learning emphasizes the Trivium (grammar, logic, and rhetoric) and the Quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy), forming the foundation of Western intellectual tradition.

Throughout history, classical education has been the hallmark of rigorous intellectual formation, producing influential figures such as Socrates, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and the Founding Fathers of the United States. Its focus on deep thinking, eloquence, and moral reasoning has withstood the test of time, proving its effectiveness in shaping well-rounded individuals capable of critical thought and persuasive communication.

Unlike modern trends in education, which often shift with technological and cultural changes, classical education remains steadfast and
enduring. It has been relied upon for centuries to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and intellectual discipline, demonstrating that while it may not be new, it remains as relevant and valuable as ever.

What are family rights?

Recognizing and reinforcing the role of the parents as the primary decision maker and moral authority in the life of the child defines family rights. We honor family rights by establishing:

Privacy: respecting personal information, age-appropriateness, and deference to decisions that are properly in the family domain

Transparency: providing accurate and timely information relating to governance, curriculum and school performance

Neutrality: focusing on learning instead of activism, respect for opposing opinions, and encouraging civil discourse

Accountability: ensure that parents remain active participants in their child’s education, fostering a strong partnership between schools and families for a scholar’s success

What is a charter school?

New Hampshire charter schools are tuition-free public schools authorized by the New Hampshire State Board of Education. Charter schools provide a choice for parents and students seeking an option to district schools.

Although charter schools are public schools, they are created and governed by an independent board of trustees. Charter schools operate independently from many of the rules and regulations that apply to local school districts.

How are charter schools funded?

In New Hampshire, public charter schools receive funding primarily from state sources and do not benefit from local property tax revenues. Charter schools receive approximately $9,180 per student, with an increase of 2% each fiscal year.  This funding structure results in charter schools operating with less financial support compared to district schools, which have an average per-student expenditure of $20,000+. Charter schools are not eligible for state school building aid and are not able to issue construction bonds like district schools can. To overcome this inherent budgetary challenge, charter schools maintain strong fiscal responsibility and accountability. They must operate efficiently and rely on the generous support of the community.
